What is a T-money Card?
The T-money card is a rechargeable smart card used for paying public transportation fares in South Korea. While it started for subways and buses, it has now expanded to include taxis, convenience stores, and even some vending machines and museums.
Where to Buy a T-money Card
You can find these cards almost everywhere as soon as you land. Here are the most common spots:
Convenience Stores
CU, GS25, 7-Eleven, and Emart24 located at Incheon Airport and throughout every city.
Subway Stations
Ticket vending machines inside subway stations offer basic cards.

- Place your card on the sensor.
- Select your language (English, Chinese, Japanese).
- Select the amount you want to add.
- Insert the cash into the machine.
- Wait for the confirmation screen before removing your card.

Do I get a refund for remaining balance?
Yes! If you have less than 20,000 KRW left, you can get an instant refund at any convenience store for a small 500 KRW fee. For larger amounts, you must visit a T-money service center.
Can two people use one T-money card?
On buses, yesβyou can tell the driver "two people" before tapping. However, it is NOT possible on the subway. Each passenger must have their own card for the subway.
Does it expire?
No! Your T-money balance lasts practically forever. You can keep it for your next trip to Korea or give it to a friend who is visiting.
